Mesomorph Body Type: What’s Next for You? | Paradigm Peptides

Learning your body type brings you one step closer to understanding the training and nutrition you need to thrive. For mesomorphs this means a diet focused on things like salmon and lean steak and a workout focused on agility. But what makes you a mesomorph and how can you tell if you’re eating the right stuff?

What is the Mesomorph Body Type?

As a mesomorph, you typically experience greater than normal muscle development. This person is typically characterized as having a broad chest and shoulders that are typically on the more muscular side. Arms and legs are also muscular and the person in question typically has low body fat. Muscle development tends to come easier to a person in the mesomorph body type category.

There are also different hybrid types that mesh with this specific body type. This could mean a person is a meso-endomorph or an ecto-mesomorph. If you’ve read the article on the ectomorph, you’ll recall that these particular individuals find it more difficult to build muscle and tend to be lanky. However, in the case of an ecto-mesomorph an individual can become visibly muscular through various strength training exercises.

As for the meso-endomorphs, these individuals typically are categorized as having a boxy midsection. They’re a thicker person in general and have muscle; however, it is not as visible as a straight mesomorph body type.

Mesomorph Exercise

Overall, when looking into the mesomorph body type, it becomes apparent that they have a bit of an easier time than the other body types. This is attributed to their ability to create muscle mass more easily. The metabolism of this body type tends to be quite efficient but not as severely efficient as those with the ectomorph body type. So, they are able to create more athletic muscle mass over a shorter span of time.

Overall, they don’t need to spend as much time working on foundational exercise. But what can you do if you want to up your game? Well, as a mesomorph you can typically do more advanced forms of exercises that involve more power. This can include exercises for speed and agility.

Understanding Speed & Agility Training

If you look at the actual definitions, speed is actually defined as your body’s ability to move in one direction as fast as your legs can take you. As for agility, it is how you accelerate, decelerate, stabilize, and quickly change your direction without falling over or injuring yourself.

By using these exercises as a mesomorph, you’re more likely going to fulfill your body’s need for cardio. It will also make it to where you know how to move to avoid injuries and such.

Exercise Examples

Speed

High Knees – Wall Drills: This exercise is done facing a wall, you’ll want to have your body backed against a wall with your arms out at shoulder length perpendicular to you on the wall.  You’ll then bring you knees up one at a time, alternating movement and keeping your toes flexed, parallel to the ground. A good rule of thumb is to do this exercise for about three seconds before taking a short break in between sets.

Agility

The L.E.F.T. Drill: This is an exercise done with cones and is typically used to test and improve your overall agility. For those in running related sports, this may be a good option for you. You start by placing the cones between 10 and 15 yards apart.

For the first run, you’ll sprint from one cone to the other. Then once you reach the second cone, you’ll backpedal to the first one. Make sure that you balance yourself when backpedaling or you’re liable to fall to the floor.

Then once you get to the first cone, you’ll want to side shuffle to the second cone with your dominant leg in front and then side shuffle back to the first cone with your non-dominant leg. You’ll want to do three sets of this before taking a break.

Mesomorph Nutrition

As a mesomorph, you’ll want to focus your diet on consuming between 1.2 and 2.2 grams of protein per each kilogram of body weight you have. This also can help in determining the intensity of your exercise program as well. The more intense it is, the more protein you’ll want to consume. Not only that, you’ll want to ensure the correct balance of carbs and fats for your body type as well.
