The main difference is that unlike IGF 1 that has a glutamic acid in the third position, long arginine 3 IGF 1 has an arginine acid instead. It also has 13 more amino acids at its N-terminus. With these modifications it is able to retain its pharmacological activity but is three times more potent than its predecessor IGF 1. Not only that, its half life is also increased to twenty to thirty hours as opposed to the half life of IGF 1 which would ben between twelve and fifteen hours.
